Cairo to Host First Stage of 2026 Modern Pentathlon World Cup
Hundreds of athletes from 42 countries will compete in the first stage of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup at the Cairo International Stadium this April.
The opening stage of the 2026 Modern Pentathlon World Cup will be hosted in Cairo, Egypt from April 7th to 13th, bringing together 400 athletes from 42 countries at Cairo International Stadium. The Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation, led by modern pentathlete Sherif El-Erian, confirmed a wide-ranging international line-up spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. Competitions will take place across multiple venues inside the stadium complex, with swimming held at the aquatic centre, fencing in Hall 2, and the obstacle and Laser Run events staged at the equestrian field. Athletes will compete across the five pentathlon sports: swimming, fencing, horse riding, pistol shooting and running. The Cairo leg marks the first stop in the 2026 World Cup series, followed by events in Bulgaria from May 13th to May 17th and Hungary from June 9th to June 13th, before the final returns to Hungary from June 26th to June 28th.
