Egyptian Youngster Omar Abu Taleb Joins Getafe U19 From ZED FC
The Egyptian midfielder joins Getafe U19 after featuring at the 2025 U17 World Cup alongside Barcelona’s Hamza Abdelkarim.
Omar Abu Taleb is heading to Spain. The 19-year-old midfielder has officially joined Getafe’s U19 side after progressing through ZED FC’s academy, where he joined in 2022. He will wear No. 16 for Getafe’s Juvenil A side.
Abu Taleb was part of Egypt’s squad at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar, the tournament that put Hamza Abdelkarim on Barcelona's radar.
He also made 15 appearances for ZED during the 2025/26 season, scoring once and providing one assist.
The move adds Abu Taleb to a growing group of young Egyptian players making the move to Spanish football, including Abdelkarim at Barcelona, Omar Yasser at Alavés and Bilal Attia at Racing Santander.
